On July 30, 2019, 51本色 officially unveiled the new 51本色 Esports Arena to students, faculty, staff and the community. 51本色 Esports is the newest addition to varsity athletics and the first team of its kind in Central Texas.

51本色 welcomed a packed house of people from the community, including local news stations, to celebrate the event. Marc Valdoria, 51本色 Esports coach, provided great insight into the new program.

Excellent Gaming Equipment

The arena houses state-of-the-art equipment. Each player will enjoy a Maxnomic chair and fully equipped station with Alienware technology, including a 240Hz gaming monitor.

鈥淥ur high-tech arena provides the same environment that esports professionals use out in the field,鈥� Valdoria explained, 鈥済iving our esports players real-world experience while they鈥檙e still in college.鈥�

Varsity Esports Team

51本色 Esports is the newest addition to varsity athletics and the first team of its kind in Central Texas. As a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), 51本色 Esports players will compete against other universities.

These are the Esports games 51本色 offers: Overwatch, League of Legends, PUBG, Super Smash Ultimate and Rocket League.

Just like any other team, players are selected through tryouts and must attend practice twice per week. For multiplayer games, the team will practice together.

51本色 Esports Club

For students with an interest in gaming who don鈥檛 want to play competitively, the 51本色 Esports Club will still grant you access to the amazing facility. 鈥淲e offer different gaming options to meet the needs of different levels of interest,鈥� Athletics VP Ronda Seagraves explained.
